Brand new from Klevgrand, Revolv is one of the most unique reverb plugins i’ve ever come across.

A convolution reverb, Revolv includes over 100 IR presets that were recorded in real places from around Sweden. From forests and medieval ruins to cafe’s and swimming pools, the variety of different spaces available is quite astounding.

Klevgrand are well known for their out of the box approach to designing plugin interfaces and there is no better example of this than Revolv’s distinctive UI.

Revolv has you use a circular selector to move between different ‘spaces’ that are arranged on a ring. You can then use the orange and black control in the centre of the ring to adjust how much of the effect is applied to your track.

Check out Klevgrand’s intro video below.

In Depth Controls

Selecting the burger menu in the top right of the plugin’s UI opens the fantastically titled ‘Wheels of Time and Space’ menu, where you can select from six different reverb categories, each with 12 different ‘spaces’.

Once you’ve found a ‘space’ you like, you can edit it further by clicking/tapping on the selector. This opens a new menu where you can (amongst other things) adjust virtual microphone placement, control delay and pre-delay values and even discover more information about the specific ‘place’ selected.

Flashy UI and controls aside, Revolv just sounds phenomenal.

Klevgrand and their collaborator for this plugin; sound designer Oscar Björk, have perfectly captured the natural acoustics of these spaces, providing users with amazing reverb effects that you just can’t get anywhere else.

Listen to some audio examples below.

Klevgrand are keen to point out that Revolv doesn’t use AI.

“Revolv’s collection of impulse responses is entirely hand-collected/
recorded, curated, and processed without the use of artificial
intelligence. Each IR is a genuine audio snapshot of a space’s natural
acoustics, ensuring that the reverb you add to your recordings is as real
and rich as the location itself. This authenticity makes Revolv an
invaluable tool for musicians, sound designers, and audio engineers,
particularly in fields like film and video game scoring where convincing space replication is crucial.”

Revolv Highlights:

  • Extensive IR Collection: Over 100 carefully captured impulse responses from historic and modern Swedish locations.
  • Versatile Application: Perfect as a traditional reverb or an exquisite room processor.
  • High-Quality Sound: Authentic, natural reverb that enhances the realism of your recordings.
  • Unique and user-Friendly Interface: Designed for ease of use, allowing you to focus on creativity.
  • Mic choice / Placement: Select from up to three placement options for each location and choose between three available microphones: MKH8020, Neumann U87, and Zylia.

If you’re after a truly unique reverb plugin that offers one of a kind acoustic accuracy while also being really easy to use, I think you’ll really love Revolv. I certainly do!

Revolv is available at an introductory price of $49.99 (usual price $69.99) for Mac and PC. iOS release to follow.
