Airpods max Lossless

Apple AirPods Max now let you create and mix in Spacial Audio.

Apple just released a software update for AirPods Max that allows musicians and creators to record and mix music in Spacial Audio with head tracking.

The update also adds Lossless audio and ultra low latency capabilities to Apple’s premium set of cans.

Through the use of a USB-C to USB-C cable, AirPods Max owners can connect their headphones to their Mac, iPad or iPhone. This unlocks 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, “preserving the integrity of original recordings and allowing listeners to experience music the way the artist created it in the studio.”

Great News for Musicians

AirPods Max just became a great choice for musicians

In their press release, Apple describe how the new AirPods Max update will benefit musicians in particular:

“Lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio enable music creators to fully utilise AirPods Max throughout their entire professional workflow on Logic Pro and other music creation apps. Using the USB-C cable, AirPods Max will become the only headphones that enable musicians to both create and mix in Personalised Spatial Audio with head tracking.1 By delivering lossless, high-resolution digital audio with low latency, artists can seamlessly record and mix with AirPods Max without compromising fidelity.”

Apple have provided a pair of AirPods Max for me to try. I’ll be especially interested to see just how usable they are in a music production environment and just how well mixing with Spacial Audio in Logic Pro works.
