The Cheapest Microphone On Wish

While I encourage grabbing a bargain on audio gear where you can, you’d be right to be wary of taking the plunge with a dodgy Chinese knock off found in a dark and dingy corner of the internet.

Recording quality is really important when it comes to capturing killer audio. Can you get that ‘pro’ sound with a super cheap microphone from a site like Wish.com?

In the video below I find out if the dirt cheap knock off I bought does, in fact, suck.

As mentioned in the video, I want to know if you would use a microphone like this in your own projects! Leave a comment below or get in touch on Facebook or Twitter.

  1. I wouldn’t use it. There’s plenty of good used gear out there…buy the real thing! The time you’d spend trying to “fix it in the mix” just aren’t worth it. Start with a good clean sound.

  2. It didn’t sound awful, but sure couldn’t handle much gain. I guess one could get by in a pinch, but I wonder how long it will last after it goes through a few bumps and thumps that legitimate mic would survive? I suspect that longevity wouldn’t apply.

  3. It would be OK for a child’s toy box mic. Never give young children a decent mic to play with. I did once and never saw it again. I agree with the previous response, plenty of good used gear on E Bay etc.

  4. Patrick, you rule. been following for a long time, no comments. This microphone is a total knockoff! But wait.. is it worth $10? TOTALLY. There are a ton of uses for ‘throwaway’ mics in tons of settings. Are you a soundguy doing punk shows or scenarios that you dont want REAL SM 58s beat to bits? buy 10 of em and mic the horrible drum guy or vocalist! Its not what you want for real tracking but as a ‘beater’ or even an extra ‘ambience’ mic you really cant ‘beat’ that price. there’s worse mics sold for more $$$$
