Restore Your Recordings – Q&A #6

In the latest installment of Garageband Q&A, I’ll show you how to create a quick and easy workaround to a pretty big oversight that Apple are yet to address…

Big thanks to Barry for getting in touch with such a great question!

  1. Just downloaded the new Garageband loops from the most recent upgrade. I opened one song and it showed I had nearly 5000 loops to choose from. When I open other songs it shows much much fewer. Can’t seem to find a way to access the loops that should be available.

  2. Hello Patrick.
I have an older IMAC version 10.8.5, using an older version of G/band 6.0.5 (428.5)
This all confuses me. Ive been so eager to upgrade to a newer g/band version, like you have long recommended, but I read in a forum somewhere that I could lose all the projects Ive spent years doing up.
Turns out all my old projects have vanished anyway & I’ll need a special program to retrieve them.
My aim is to upgrade to the latest possible version of garageband, whilst still keeping my old projects. Can this be done ??
Would this be possible with the IMAC I have here ??? Or would I need to get a newer mac computer ???
I especially like the virtual instruments you can manipulate yourself (what are these called ??)
Does the newer g/band version have heaps more of these ???
The only pre-recorded loop I ever use for my songs is club dance beat 063. Its the only drum beat that seems to fit my 80s style songs.
Ive asked you quite a few questions here. I hope you can give me some advice?
    All the best,
    Vince
