Make Your Garageband Guitars Better – Q&A #3

In this latest edition of Garageband Q&A, I look at a few ways to improve the overall quality of your Garageband guitars using the built in amp modeler and a few other sneaky tricks.

Garageband’s Amp Modeller and Pedalboard are fantastic – it really is like having a huge amount of classic amps and effects at your fingertips.

As easy as they are to get to grips with, they can however sound less than stellar, particularly if you’re not sure how to tame some of the wilder, distorted patches.

  1. Hello,

First thank you for all your work in providing the information on this site to the public. My question has to do with using the tones from my Line 6 Firehawk FX instead of the built in tones in garageband? If so, how? Thanks you in advance. I am just getting started and plan on using your site as a guide for getting the most from garageband.

  2. Patrick, I purchased your guide and have watched most if not all your videos and tips. Thx!
I’ve learned a lot, but really would appreciate a short tutorial on how to get this clean bitting tone like that of Mark Knopfler on ”Brothers in Arms” solo. I know one requirement would be to have knpfler’s Hands and skill’s his amp and a volume pedal – got the last one. Understand, but I talking about using GarageBand. WHen he Plays notes that just sing so Clean and beautifully I think -but can’t say for sure it is mostly post eq that hits the nail on the head. Any help much appreciated. Vr, Mike

  3. Patrick, I know it is possible after a piece has been played and recorded to convert the track to whatever instrument sound required but I would like to know how I can get selected instrument sounds like flute, brass, banjo etc.and hear them in real time over prerecorded tracks when playing the notes/ chords/ melody from my electric guitar. A step by step explanation of how to do this would be much appreciated.
    Regards
    Clive
